Have you experienced… Power? Privilege? Unpacking your actions?
Workshop exploring Audism… Linguicism… Ableism…
Eyepoetic Productions is hosting a workshop to explore and reframe Audism, Linguicism, and Ableism. Our discussion will involve sharing experiences of the Deaf community in education, employment, legal, medical, and community environments. Within a safe environment of exploration together, we will learn to see these aspects of power, privilege, and oppression as we strive to work together as allies.
Presented by Ruthie Jordan, M.A. in Sign Language Education, owner of Eyepoetic Productions.
This introductory workshop is designed for ASL-English interpreters, hearing professionals who work with the Deaf community, and hearing community members who wish to gain a greater understanding of audism, linguicism, and ableism from a Deaf perspective.
Eyepoetic Productions fosters an environment of mutual respect and inclusion that is free from harassment, bias, and discrimination based on race, color, religion, hearing status, gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status.
TSID is an approved RID CMP sponsor of continuing education activities. The Power, Privilege and Oppression workshop is offered for 0.3 CEUs at the “Some” Content Knowledge Level.
