UPDATE (4/8/24): The party was a big success! A lot of people showed up and a great time was had by all. If you missed it, don’t worry, we plan to do it again next year! Here’s Julie (founder of DeafColorado.org) expressing her gratitude to those who attended the party. Also, below are the photos of the event. Enjoy!
Transcript:
Hello, welcome to DeafColorado.org. My name is Julie Riddle. [name sign] I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone and [mention] specific ones. First, I want to thank everyone for coming to the party this past April 6th. A good number of people came, it was a good and successful party!
Weather… well, can’t be controlled, but we made it work, so that’s good! I want to really, really, really thank this [place] Caffeinated Cow’s dedication to DeafColorado.org and the deaf community. They supported us. They will help anyone who asks. Their [the owners] names are Jake and Harmony Norment. They have heart, they really opened up to us [accommodated us]. Every Tuesday we have coffee, celebration, every time [here] is fun. So I wanted to thank them for all they have done.
They have their own crew: Michelle, Aurora, Destiny, Kaylee – they worked so hard that day. It was really amazing how [things went] successfully and some knew a little bit of signing, some not but they were willing to try! They had an opportunity to use three ways of communicating with everyone. Signing, using an interpreter, using Ubiduo [device to communicate], or writing. It was a really nice experience for everyone to watch and go “ah!” on how to make being around hearing people successful. That was really good; they had a good education. Thank you, thank you, for their [Caffeinated Cow’s crew] hard work.
These people:
Heather and her husband Ray. They [wow] donated a lot to DeafColorado.org. They really showed their heart to us. Thank you, thank you, for helping.
Carmilla came and helped with the party. Setting up the decorations and helping sell the raffles and worked with people to make sure everyone was okay. So, thank you, thank you!
Vince. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for your big help with the raffles and decorations! Thank you, thank you.
Ricky. Thank you for your time, your patience and understanding, and helping everyone. You made things smooth. Thank you!
Sandy and her two children. Thank you for being willing to play games, dressing up in cow costumes, you really made this game so much fun! Thank you for taking the time to make things for the games. Especially the cow patty. That was really funny! Thank you.
Hillary and her mom. Hillary is a student at PPSC. She did so good with those games. She helped work things out. Thank you, thank you to you and your mom.
Iva and Thor. They brought cameras and provided costumes for pictures and fun. They dressed up as clowns themselves! Really, thank you so much for going that extra mile. Thank you!
Three students from PPSC. Shay, Mia, Crystal. They came as volunteers to do whatever that’s needed. They jumped in, interpreted, or jumped in and played games with kids, doing face painting, tattooing. It was really cute. They did really good! Thank you for coming and thank you for volunteering.
Last but not least. Thank you to everyone in the community both deaf and hearing for coming. Thank you. I really appreciate it. We’ll do this again next year. Bye!
