Transcript:
REPORTER: Tonight, Deaf Colorado and Goat Patch Brewery hosted their first Deaf Night Out. The event allows members of the deaf community to come together for a night of camaraderie just to connect with people who speak their first language. Members of the deaf community can often feel overwhelmed and isolated in social situations.
Events like this allow him (Max) to be surrounded by people who understand what it’s like.
MAX WILDING, host of DNO: (signed) When I go to hearing events I need interpreters, I need this and that. Here, I feel like I’m being myself. I talk. Full communication. We can be able to meet new faces or old faces and chat. Just being myself.
(captioned) When I go to hearing (events), I mean, I need the interpreter, I need to be able to figure out how to communicate that. Here I can be myself. We can be ourselves. We communicate, we can meet new faces, old faces, and just be ourselves.
REPORTER: Deaf Night Out takes place on the second Friday of every month at various locations. If you’d like more information on upcoming events, you can go to DeafColorado.org.
